Job summary

Atlas Air Worldwide is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join the Data Analytics and Optimization team. You will build data-driven tech for aviation resource management, collaborating with leaders to uncover opportunities and deliver predictive and prescriptive models that influence strategy and operations.

The role blends programming, machine learning, and operations research with the ability to translate technical concepts for executives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Machine Learning, CS, Data Science, Statistics, or math.
• 5+ years in data science or similar analytical role with impact.
• Expertise in Python, R, or similar languages for analysis.
• Proficiency with SQL, Pandas, Spark and ML libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Strong statistical analysis, modeling, hypothesis testing, and optimization.
• Excellent communication and ability to translate complex concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and production-grade code.

Responsibilities

• Lead data science projects from conception to implementation with cross-functional teams.
• Develop data-driven solutions for high-dimensional aviation resource problems.
• Design experiments and measure impact against objectives.
• Create data visualizations and narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor junior data scientists and stay current with DS/ML advances.
• Collaborate with data engineering to deploy production-ready models.
