Job summary

Sardine is a remote-first risk platform aiding financial crime prevention. We seek a data-driven Senior Data Scientist to design and deploy ML models and graph analytics, measure performance, and help clients understand fraud challenges through data-driven solutions.

You will prototype proofs-of-concept, build production-ready models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive real-time risk improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data science, quantitative modeling, or a data-focused role with high fraud/risk impact.
• Strong hands-on Python/R and SQL skills are essential; Spark is a plus.
• Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Sigma, or Metabase.
• Ability to structure and analyze complex data and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bias for action with critical thinking and creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Champion a data-first approach across internal teams and client engagements.
• Build and deploy machine learning models to prevent fraud across fintech use cases.
• Develop and track metrics to measure risk product performance and risk management effectiveness.
• Conduct in-depth analyses to uncover insights for fraud reduction and higher approval rates.
• Work with clients to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineering to scale models into production and improve instrumentation.
• Create and automate self-serve dashboards leveraging BI tools.
