Job summary

Skylight, a US-based fully remote data science consultancy, seeks a Data Scientist II to join its public-interest team serving government agencies. You’ll ingest, clean, and analyze large structured and unstructured data, build models, and present insights to executives and product teams.

The role blends analytics with lightweight engineering—creating small tools and automations using AI platforms and low-code solutions—while collaborating with UX researchers, designers, PMs, and engineers.

Qualifications

• Think strategically with data to identify questions and drive decisions.
• Familiar with modern data engineering and data cleaning across sources.
• Ability to analyze data and design, prototype, and build statistical models.
• Protect privacy and security when performing data analysis.
• Articulate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Use visualization tools to highlight actionable insights and trends.
• Lead by example in data science practices within teams.
• Adapt to lightweight engineering tasks using low-code/AI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Engage executives and stakeholders to frame questions and find answers.
• Organize data and build data pipelines with tools like Palantir Foundry and PowerBI.
• Build AI agents and integrate them into workflows; validate outputs.
• Visualize grant and program data using Tableau and PowerBI.
• Analyze large structured and unstructured data to discover trends.
• Create lightweight tools and automations with Credal and Power Apps when quick solutions are needed.
• Propose solutions and select tools and languages, preferring open-source and low-code options.
• Communicate findings through leadership-ready data visuals.
• Collaborate across a cross-functional team including UX researchers, PMs, and engineers.
