Skylight is hiring a Senior/Staff/Principal Data Scientist to support the HHS OCDO initiative. You will organize and analyze data, build models, and deliver actionable insights for enterprise data management and AI inventories in a fully remote US-based role.

You’ll work across discovery, roadmap, engineering, and operations to enable data sharing, governance, and public-interest outcomes, with senior leadership guiding priorities and rapid prototyping encouraged.

Qualifikationen

• Experience with AI systems, modern AI tooling, and enterprise AI model workflows.
• Background in metadata standards, data profiling, and schema validation.
• Ability to think strategically with data to identify questions, surface opportunities, and drive decisions.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with data cleaning, validation, and preprocessing.
• Ability to design, prototype, and build credible statistical models for diverse datasets.
• Ability to preserve privacy and security in data analysis.
• Ability to clearly communicate data, models, and findings to diverse audiences.
• Ability to visualize insights using appropriate tools to highlight trends and recommendations.
• Champion leading data science practices within cross-functional teams.
• Experience in iterative delivery with product, design, engineering, and ops teams.

• Develop repeatable data quality checks and standardize metadata across HHS data and AI inventories.
• Evaluate and document risks for enterprise AI use cases per governance standards.
• Clean, integrate, and analyze complex data from multiple sources to surface trends and gaps.
• Apply ML and NLP to automate data tagging and metadata enrichment.
• Prepare reporting datasets and translate findings into dashboards and executive recommendations.
• Select appropriate tools for analysis, automation, or modeling, preferring open-source solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and other specialists in a cross-functional team.
