Job summary

Uber is seeking a Scientist for the Fares platform to solve high impact problems across riders, earners, and eaters. You will design experiments, perform causal inference, and build ML models to optimize policy design, UX and defect reduction.

Expect collaboration with product, engineering and operations to shape roadmap and drive business outcomes. Strong communication will help translate data findings to leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., MS, or Bachelors in CS, Statistics, Economics, ML or other quantitative fields.
• 3+ years of industry experience as an Applied or Data Scientist or equivalent.
• Experience with experiment design, exploratory data analysis, causal inference and model development.
• Proficient in SQL and a scripting language (Python or R).

Responsibilities

• Refine ambiguous questions and generate data backed hypotheses using data, systems and customers.
• Use experiments and causal inference to validate hypotheses and drive business goals.
• Partner with product, engineering and operations to influence product strategy.
• Influence roadmap for fares and cross-organizational teams (maps, matching, growth, UX, Ops).
• Build ML models to solve complex problems and create AI agents to automate workflows.
• Communicate findings clearly to leadership to influence decisions and direction.
