Job summary

Uber is hiring a Scientist II across multiple teams, including delivery logistics, membership, maps and experimentation. You will solve complex business problems using ML, design experiments, and develop data-driven insights to influence product and growth strategies.

You will own end-to-end data and science contributions, collaborating with cross-functional partners and contributing to a scalable experimentation platform.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., MS or Bachelor's in Economics, Statistics, ML, OR or quantitative field.
• 4+ years of industry experience as an Applied/Data Scientist or equivalent.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, Java, Ruby, Scala/Spark or Perl).
• Ability to use Python or similar to work with large data sets and prototype algorithms/models.
• Coding and SQL proficiency and ability to develop statistical analyses in Python or R.
• Design experiments and interpret results to draw actionable conclusions across KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Solve ambiguous, data-driven business problems using ML, optimization, and causal inference.
• Develop and implement statistical/econometric methodologies to improve validity and power.
• Create data-driven insights and work with cross-functional partners to prioritise product initiatives.
• Design and analyze experiments, presenting actionable recommendations.
• Build logging, metrics, dashboards, and diagnostic tools to enable data-driven product development.
• Define success metrics in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Own the product development cycle end-to-end from data and science perspectives.
