Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is hiring a Scientist II across multiple teams including delivery logistics, membership, maps and experimentation.

You will build real-time matching, pricing and ETD models, and develop causal inference methods to grow Uber One and optimize marketplace performance. Responsibilities include designing experiments, producing actionable insights, and driving data-driven product decisions in collaboration with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S. or Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, ML, OR or other quantitative fields.
• 4+ years of industry experience as an Applied or Data Scientist or equivalent (or 2+ years with Ph.D.).
• Background in at least one programming language (Python, R, Java, Ruby, Scala/Spark or Perl).
• Ability to use Python or similar to work with large data sets and prototype models.
• Coding and SQL proficiency and ability to develop statistical analysis in Python or R.

Responsibilities

• Solve ambiguous business problems using data-driven approaches including ML, optimization, causal inference.
• Develop and implement statistical methodologies to improve validity and power.
• Develop data-driven insights and collaborate with cross-functional customers to prioritize initiatives.
• Design and analyze experiments and present actionable recommendations.
• Drive data-driven product development by creating logging, metrics, and diagnostic tools.
• Define how teams measure success by developing metrics with cross-functional partners.
• Own the product development cycle end-to-end from data and science aspects.
