Job summary

Amazon Science in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Data Scientist to define the science direction for AI-first security tooling. You will lead ambiguous ML problems, architect multi-cloud agentic systems, and drive adoption of agentic coding practices.

Collaborate with senior engineers, applied scientists, and PMs to shape roadmaps and deliver scalable security solutions. You’ll mentor scientists, set performance metrics, and influence across teams while delivering high-impact AI-for-security

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python) or statistical software (R, SAS, Matlab).
• 4+ years of data scientist experience.
• Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression.
• Experience defining roadmap strategy and prioritizing deliverables for your team products.
• Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience leading the design and deployment of ML or statistical models in production environments.
• Experience with AI-assisted or agentic coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Set the science direction for a product area: Define the modeling strategy, scientific approach, and success metrics.
• Own the hardest, most ambiguous problems: Frame the problem, choose the approach, and bring others along.
• Build with AI to build AI and define how the team does it: Drive adoption of agentic coding tools and LLN-powered workflows.
• Architect agentic intelligence: Lead design of models, embeddings, pipelines, evaluation, and feedback loops.
• Drive technical strategy across teams: Influence roadmaps and align cross-functional partners.
• Prototype, validate, and scale: Turn hypotheses into prototypes and scale to production at AWS scale.
• Communicate to influence at executive level: Translate results into recommendations for engineers, product leaders, and executives.
• Raise the bar and grow others: Mentor data scientists and shape science culture.
