Job summary

Chemical Abstracts Service seeks a Senior Data Scientist specializing in agentic AI development and LLM engineering. Based in Columbus, OH, you will join the DAI team to build AI powering CAS products, ground outputs in curated content, and drive production deployments with strong technical leadership.

You will design, implement, and evaluate advanced AI systems, collaborating with data engineers, product managers, and domain experts.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD with relevant AI/ML experience; 6+ years for MS, 3+ for PhD, 8+ for Bachelor+.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and the modern AI engineering stack (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face, vector databases, orchestration/agent frameworks, SQL, cloud platforms).
• Experience building LLM-powered applications, agentic or multi-agent systems, and deploying them to production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and productionize agentic AI systems and multi-agent workflows.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines grounded in curated content.
• Lead evaluation, safety, and production-grade deployment of AI systems; mentor junior staff.
