Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead ads fraud detection and enforcement within Safety. You will partner with Ads, ML, and Policy to identify fraud patterns, build scalable pipelines, and set governance standards across detect, score, and enforcement.

You will translate complex analyses into actionable insights for senior leaders and mentor a growing team of data scientists and analysts.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MS in a quantitative field; with MS, 4+ years in industry data science, or PhD with 2+ years.
• Experience building production detection/enforcement pipelines with batch or streaming data.
• Strong fraud/abuse detection methods knowledge including design, calibration, drift detection, and false-positive analysis.
• Experience partnering with Product and Engineering to deploy production systems across Ads, Safety, risk, or platform integrity organizations.
• Experience applying AI and large language models (LLMs) to practical data science workflows.
• Understanding of complex behavioral networks, graph analysis, clustering, or NLP.

Responsibilities

• Lead the measurement and detection strategy for ads fraud by defining taxonomies, labels, sampling plans, metrics, and evaluation frameworks.
• Analyze large datasets and networks to uncover fraud patterns, size impact, identify root causes, and translate findings into detection requirements.
• Design and develop scalable ads fraud detection and enforcement pipelines with feature generation, rules/models, near-real-time scoring, and observability.
• Own the full detection lifecycle: backtesting, threshold calibration, offline/online evaluation, launch validation, experimentation, monitoring, drift detection, incident response, rollback.
• Build and maintain ML/GenAI-enabled models or prototypes to improve fraud detection and enforcement quality.
• Balance fraud loss, risk, customer experience, and enforcement thresholds to align with business goals.
• Partner across Ads and Safety to shape strategy, strengthen data foundations, and ensure governance.
• Translate analyses into clear narratives for senior stakeholders and mentor other data scientists.
