Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a data scientist to transform raw data into actionable insights and scalable ML solutions. You will select appropriate modeling techniques, build production-grade models, and document methods for risk and compliance audiences.

You will mentor junior data scientists, collaborate with data engineers, and ensure alignment with regulatory expectations while delivering clear business recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline or 4 years of relevant experience.
• 6 years of experience in predictive analytics or data analysis.
• 4 years of experience training and validating statistical, ML, or other analytics models.
• 4 years of experience using Python or R for analyses and AI/ML models.
• Experience writing clear, well-documented, transparent code.
• Strong querying and preprocessing of structured and unstructured data (SQL, NoSQL, etc.).
• Ability to assess regulatory implications of modeling efforts.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship.

Job description

• Gather, interpret, and manipulate structured and unstructured data for advanced analytical solutions
• Develop scalable, automated solutions using machine learning, simulation, and optimization
• Select modeling techniques and technologies based on data limitations, applications, and business needs
• Develop and deploy models within the Model Development Control and Model Risk Management frameworks
• Compose technical documentation for knowledge persistence, risk management, and technical review audiences
• Assess business needs and recommend analytical and modeling projects
• Prioritize analytics and modeling problems with business and analytics leaders
• Build and maintain reusable, production-quality algorithms and supporting code
• Translate complex business requests into analytical questions, execute analyses/models, and communicate outcomes to non-technical colleagues
• Manage project milestones, risks, and impediments
• Escalate issues that could limit project success or implementation
• Develop deployment best practices with Data Engineering and IT
• Maintain awareness of cutting-edge techniques and learn new technologies and methodologies
• Mentor junior data scientists
• Participate in internal data science technology and culture communities
• Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, economics, finance, actuarial sciences, science and engineering, or another similar quantitative discipline; OR 4 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree
• 6 years of experience in predictive analytics or data analysis, OR an advanced degree in a similar quantitative discipline and 4 years of experience in predictive analytics or data analysis
• 4 years of experience training and validating statistical, physical, machine learning, and other advanced analytics models
• 4 years of experience using a dynamic scripted language such as Python or R for statistical analyses and/or building and scoring AI/ML models
• Experience writing easy-to-follow, well-documented, transparent code
• Strong experience querying and preprocessing structured and/or unstructured databases using SQL, HQL, NoSQL, or similar query languages
• Strong experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data files, including numeric delimited files, JSON/XML, text documents, and images
• Skill performing ad-hoc analytics using descriptive, diagnostic, and inferential statistics
• Ability to assess and articulate regulatory implications and expectations of modeling efforts
• Advanced experience with supervised modeling, including linear/logistic regression, discriminant analysis, support vector machines, decision trees, and forest models
• Advanced experience with unsupervised modeling, including k-means, hierarchical/agglomerative clustering, neighbors algorithms, and DBSCAN
• Experience guiding and mentoring junior technical staff in business interactions and model building
• Experience communicating analytical and modeling results to non-technical business partners with business recommendations and actionable applications
