Job summary

Uber is seeking a Senior Manager for its Delivery Data Science team in New York. You will lead a high-performing group of scientists, shaping the technical vision and roadmaps for key product areas and collaborating with engineering, product, and operations to deliver high-impact ML-driven initiatives.

You’ll guide strategic analytics, build robust data foundations, and mentor both senior ICs and managers. A strong track record in production ML and cross-functional leadership is required.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor's degree in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative fields.
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience as a Scientist or equivalent (8+ years with a Ph.D.).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in people management, with a proven track record of managing managers and senior individual contributors.
• Proven leadership in influencing long-term strategy and technical direction across organizations.
• Strategic organizational skills to restructure teams and drive impact.
• Advanced expertise in experimental design, causal inference, and ML in production environments.
• Proficiency with Python or R for large-scale data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing organization of scientists, mentoring senior ICs and coaching managers.
• Define the technical vision and roadmap for critical product areas, balancing customer needs with engineering constraints.
• Drive strategic thinking in marketplace design, pricing algorithms, and ML applications for efficiency and reliability.
• Refine ambiguous business questions into structured analytical frameworks and deliver actionable insights for executives.
• Establish data foundations, instrumentation, and observability for evolving product areas.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Ops, and Design to execute high-visibility initiatives.
