Job summary

LMI is seeking a Data / Power BI Engineer at the Level IV to build trustworthy reporting infrastructure for VA initiatives. You will combine data engineering, SQL and Python, and Power BI modeling to deliver decision-ready dashboards for executives.

The role emphasizes data lineage, security, performance, and quality; you will translate metric requests into durable data products while collaborating with analysts and governance stakeholders across Jira, LMS, surveys, and related sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data engineering, data science, information systems, or related.
• 5+ years of data engineering, BI engineering, or analytics engineering experience.
• Strong SQL and Python proficiency with production data pipelines.
• Advanced Power BI skills including DAX, modeling, and dashboard publication.
• Experience with data validation, privacy-aware access controls, and KPI requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust determination.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ingestion and transformation pipelines from multiple data sources.
• Use SQL and Python to clean, reconcile, combine, validate, and document data.
• Develop Power BI semantic models, DAX calculations, and governance KPI definitions.
• Create reporting on Agile maturity, Jira adoption, and portfolio progress.
• Implement access controls, lineage documentation, and refresh performance optimization.
• Collaborate with analysts and governance stakeholders on metric definitions and validation.
• Support recurring reporting, dashboard enhancements, and handover to sustainment teams.
• Establish robust transformation routines with provenance records and scheduled refresh.
