Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior data engineering leader in Wisconsin to drive data platform strategy and delivery across multiple teams. You will own large, mission-critical systems, design end-to-end analytics, and mentor engineers to raise technical standards.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, secure data solutions, while advancing best practices and cross-functional partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• 10+ years in data engineering, architecture or distributed systems with 5+ years in leadership.
• 7+ years building scalable data platforms.
• 5+ years with Snowflake or BigQuery.
• 3+ years with dbt and modern ELT pipelines.
• Hands-on with AWS services and Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker.
• Knowledge of data governance, security controls and access management.
• Strong observability, alerting, and incident management experience.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead data engineering projects at scale across multiple teams.
• Plan and deliver multi-team, long-term projects with external dependencies.
• Own large systems from design through operation.
• Design and build end-to-end analytics solutions for multiple business domains.
• Research and prototype solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Establish engineering best practices and mentor engineers.
• Foster technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Identify process improvements and automate data delivery.
• Partner with architects, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure data platforms.
