Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate enterprise data and analytics platform capabilities across Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure. You will develop reusable patterns, governance, and self-service capabilities to enable scalable data products and AI workloads.

You will collaborate with data engineering, security, and operations teams to ensure secure, compliant, and cost-efficient platform services, while supporting a hybrid work model across NY

Qualifications

• Experience in platform engineering, data platform engineering, cloud engineering, or a DevOps-oriented role.
• Hands-on Snowflake experience in an enterprise environment.
• Strong Snowflake concepts: roles, databases, schemas, warehouses, data sharing, and governance.
• Experience with Azure services, identity, networking, monitoring, and production support.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or similar analytics platforms, including governance and workspace management.
• Proficiency in automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, version control, testing, and repeatable deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build enterprise data and analytics platform capabilities across Snowflake, Fabric, and Azure.
• Engineer and administer Snowflake databases, warehouses, and data sharing patterns.
• Develop reusable Snowflake patterns for onboarding, access management, and cross-business data sharing.
• Improve Snowflake performance and cost efficiency through analysis and FinOps practices.
• Build platform automation, CI/CD pipelines, IaC, scripts, and repeatable deployment patterns.
• Support Azure administration and platform integration, including identity and networking.
• Support Fabric and Power BI platform capabilities including governance and workspace management.
• Embed governance, security, observability, and cost management into platform capabilities.
• Assist production services with monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.
