Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Lead Analyst Data Platform Engineering to lead Snowflake administration and data pipeline development for enterprise BI and AI workloads. You will design ingestion from multiple sources, curate data layers, and enable AI copilots across the analytics stack.

The role requires strong SQL, multi-account Snowflake experience, and hands-on data engineering skills; collaboration with IT and business leads is daily.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field; Master’s Degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database/platform administration, or BI, including hands-on Snowflake administration in production.
• Hands-on experience with a multi-account Snowflake architecture.
• Strong SQL programming skills.
• Experience with data ingestion and ETL/ELT tools (Fivetran/HVR, Matillion, dbt, Postman).
• Familiarity with AI/LLM enablement and tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Snowflake Cortex).
• Experience with BI and visualization tools (Tableau, Sigma) a plus.
• Understanding of agentic architectures (MCP servers, agent-to-agent) a plus.
• Snowflake certification a strong plus.
• Familiarity with agile development practices.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Snowflake Platform Administration: manage users, roles, warehouses, RBAC/RLS/CLS, security policies, and account configurations.
• Monitor platform health, performance, and cost; tune workloads to meet SLAs.
• Audit and remediate security issues.
• Manage availability between Snowflake accounts and partner platforms (cloud/on-prem).
• Activate, test, and evaluate Snowflake Private Preview capabilities; document findings and adoption strategies.
• Data Pipeline & Ingestion Engineering: design and maintain data pipelines from internal/external sources using CDC, API ingestion, batch/plain files.
• Build and maintain transformation workflows across Foundation, Processed, and Curated layers of the data warehouse.
• Monitor pipelines, troubleshoot failures, resolve data quality/timeliness issues.
• Onboard new data sources; define ingestion standards with source system owners.
• Document pipeline design, dependencies, and data lineage for governance.
