Block is hiring an experienced software engineer to own the data platform that helps teams across the company work with trusted data at scale. You’ll shape the foundations for data warehousing, orchestration, governance, and agentic workflows, partnering with engineers across teams to turn needs into durable platform capabilities.

You’ll design core capabilities, build Python services, and implement infrastructure as code with Terraform.

Qualifications

• Senior software engineer with proven Python expertise.
• Experience designing and operating data platforms at scale.
• Hands-on Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Strong collaboration with data engineers, analysts and product teams.

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and operate core data‑platform capabilities across warehousing, orchestration, BI, and governance.
• Develop reliable Python services and developer tools for data products.
• Write and maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Establish scalable patterns for petabyte-scale data with strong governance and observability.
• Partner with data engineers, analysts, scientists, and product teams to translate needs into platform capabilities.
• Evaluate and build agentic workflows to improve data processes.
• Set technical direction and mentor other engineers.
