Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer (Remote-Eligible) to lead data platform initiatives across AWS, Lakehouse, and real-time pipelines. You will mentor engineers, drive architecture, and partner with data scientists, product managers and stakeholders to deliver scalable, governed data solutions.

You will own end-to-end design, set technical strategy, and implement with Python/SQL/Java/Scala, while shaping data governance, observability, and performance across enterprise data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
• At least 9 years of experience in data engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture
• At least 3 years of experience building applications in AWS
• At least 7 years of experience programming with Python/Java/Scala
• At least 6 years of experience designing and developing data pipelines
• At least 4 years of experience in data modeling and end-to-end data solutions

Responsibilities

• Lead through technical contribution and act as trusted advisor across data platforms
• Mentor engineers and recruit to grow Capital One Tech talent
• Drive data engineering strategy and roadmaps for data pipelines and sharing capabilities
• Communicate with stakeholders across the enterprise to influence decisions
• Develop and socialize data governance policies and architecture blueprints
• Own end-to-end design and coding of critical data projects and scale the team’s output
