Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Staff Data Engineer (Remote-Eligible) to lead end-to-end data platform initiatives in the cloud. You will mentor engineers, shape data pipelines, and drive architectural decisions across AWS, Lakehouse, Kafka, Spark, and Databricks, delivering scalable data solutions across the enterprise.

You will partner with data scientists, product managers and leaders to accelerate delivery, foster engineering excellence, and recruit top talent to strengthen Capital One Tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
• 9+ years of experience in data engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in data architecture.
• 3+ years of experience building applications in AWS.
• 7+ years programming in Python, Java, or Scala.
• 6+ years designing and developing data pipelines.
• 4+ years of experience in data modeling using relational and non-relational databases.

• Strike a balance between lending expertise and inclusive environment to grow skills.
• Promote engineering excellence and reuse/innersource solutions where possible.
• Communicate with and influence stakeholders across the enterprise.

• Mentor internal talent and assist in recruiting top external talent.
• Develop data strategy artifacts and roadmaps for enterprise data governance.
• Lead end-to-end data projects and guide architectural standards.
