Job summary

Cohere Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own data pipelines across the data platform, from ingestion to transformation to integration. You will design scalable, governed data infrastructure and collaborate with analytics engineers, architects, and product stakeholders to ensure trustworthy data products.

You will mentor engineers, drive data quality, and contribute to platform architecture, while working remotely with occasional in-person onboarding and events in Boston.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field is required.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or software development with a strong focus on data infrastructure.
• Proven success delivering large-scale, governed data infrastructure projects.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with testing, version control, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with Airflow, dbt, AWS (EMR, Athena, S3), Iceberg, Parquet, and Kafka.
• Mentoring engineers and raising team engineering standards through code reviews and documentation.
• Healthcare data experience (claims, eligibility, clinical, EHR) is preferred.
• Snowflake and/or Databricks experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex data pipelines and infrastructure across multiple domains.
• Mentor junior engineers and raise team-wide engineering standards.
• Implement and enforce data quality, schema validation, and observability practices.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and tool evaluation for platform scalability and governance.
• Write clean, maintainable Python and SQL code with CI/CD and documentation.
• Monitor production workflows using Airflow, dbt, AWS, Kafka, and Iceberg/Parquet.
• Collaborate with analytics, product, and compliance stakeholders to meet business needs.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support critical platform jobs.
• Champion excellence through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
