Job summary

Intuit's Consumer Group is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Data to help build the Consumer Data Plane. You will work on Credit Karma and Turbotax data layers enabling AI-native experiences, growth marketing, and in-product personalization.

You will own foundational data infrastructure, design high-throughput pipelines on GCP with Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Spanner, and mentor engineers across teams while driving reliability and developer experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building backend services and data infrastructure.
• Experience with petabyte-scale data and low latency.
• Proficient in Scala or Java and JVM ecosystems.
• Strong data governance and security practices.
• Experience with cloud data tools (GCP/AWS/Azure).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput data frameworks.
• Develop Scala-based microservices using Finagle, Akka, and gRPC.
• Build cloud-native data pipelines on GCP using Dataflow, Spark, Pub/Sub.
• Own and evolve Kafka streaming infra with strict latency.
• Create type-safe APIs across Spanner, MySQL, BigQuery.
• Develop agentic systems including semantic search and knowledge graphs.
• Implement encryption, access control, and data governance features.
• Create self-service tooling and onboarding automation.
• Lead architecture reviews and Technical Design Documents.
• Participate in on-call rotations and observability.
• Own foundational infrastructure used by Credit Karma teams.
• Work at real scale with SLAs and reliability.
• Shape developer experience via APIs/SDKs.
• Tackle distributed-systems problems like MySQL CDC + Beam SDKs.
