Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend and data infrastructure engineering experience.
• 7+ years building high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems.
• 3+ years with streaming and messaging platforms (Kafka, Pub/Sub).
• 3+ years building data pipelines on major cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Experience with RPC frameworks (Finagle, gRPC, Akka).
• Strong CI/CD, Git, and testing practices.
• Experience building reusable frameworks and SDKs for engineers.
• Familiarity with data encryption at rest/in transit and governance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput data frameworks used across Credit Karma's engineering org.
• Develop Scala-based microservices and frameworks for petabyte-scale data processing.
• Build cloud-native data pipelines on GCP with Dataflow, Flink, Spark, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Spanner.
• Own and evolve Kafka-based streaming infrastructure with low latency and durability guarantees.
• Create unified, type-safe persistence APIs across Spanner, MySQL, and BigQuery.
• Develop agentic systems, semantic search, and knowledge graphs for personalized experiences.
