Job summary

Expedition Medicines is seeking a hands-on Senior/Principal Data Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and own the data systems that make proteomics data discoverable, trustworthy, and usable across the organization. This role focuses on production-grade data platforms, ML-ready datasets, and scalable pipelines for scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Computational Biology, Proteomics, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in data infrastructure, data engineering, informatics, or related fields, preferably in proteomics, bioinformatics, or biotech environments.
• Proven track record of independently designing, building, and operating terabyte-scale data systems in a biotech or life sciences environment.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools (CFN, CDK, Terraform, ARM).
• Deep understanding of data modeling with database and data warehouse systems (Postgres, Redshift, Snowflake).
• Experience with data pipeline architecture and workflow orchestration (Flyte, Dagster, Airflow).
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL; comfortable with R.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build the core data platform to integrate proteomics data with computational tools, ensuring high availability and security.
• Write production code and own the technical roadmap for data infrastructure.
• Automate workflows across proteomics environments, including mass spectrometry data processing.
• Develop data pipelines and create scalable data architectures turning raw outputs into ML-ready datasets.
• Design cloud infrastructure and implement CI/CD to improve data systems continuously.
