Job summary

Formation Bio is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to build trusted data systems supporting clinical operations, drug asset evaluation, analytics, and ML initiatives. You will ingest data from multiple sources, own canonical models and data contracts, and work with Product Engineering, Data Science, and AI-enabled users to deliver scalable data products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building/operating production data systems.
• Experience with pharmaceutical, biology, HIPAA or other regulated data is required.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with deep data modeling/warehouse experience (Snowflake).
• Experience with Dagster or similar orchestration tooling (dbt or equivalent).
• Experience with data contracts, schema evolution, data quality testing, observability, lineage, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate production data systems ingesting clinical/operational/vendor data into reliable data products.
• Own shared and canonical data models, data contracts, transformations, and warehouse models.
• Partner with Product Engineering on data models, APIs, and data access patterns.
• Collaborate with Data Science on training datasets, feature pipelines, and ML use cases.
• Turn recurring data cleaning/transformation into versioned, observable production pipelines.
• Build data products for clinical ops, asset evaluation, Business Development, analytics, ML, and AI-enabled users.
