Job summary

World Emblem is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to build and own a centralized data platform on Microsoft Fabric, in close partnership with the AI lead. You will design and run ETL/ELT pipelines from Business Central, middleware, ecommerce, and marketing systems to enable AI initiatives and enterprise reporting.

This role requires deep T-SQL, Data Warehousing and Dimensional Modeling expertise, and strong SQL Server/Azure SQL experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse/Warehouse, Data Factory Gen2) is mandatory.
• Expert T-SQL skills: advanced database design, views, stored procedures, indexing, and query performance tuning.
• Strong experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL (Azure SQL Database or Managed Instance).
• Proven track record building ETL/ELT pipelines with Microsoft tooling (Fabric Data Factory, ADF, or SSIS).
• Strong expertise in Data Warehousing & Dimensional Modeling (star schemas, facts/dimensions, SCDs).
• Experience integrating data from enterprise ERPs via APIs, OData, web services, or database connections.
• Hands-on experience with Git and Azure DevOps for version control and CI/CD workflows.
• Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to explain complex data topics to business stakeholders.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Data Platform Architecture & Build: Participate in architecture planning for the Microsoft Fabric platform. Partner with an external implementation partner during initial rollout and transition into full in-house ownership.
• ETL / ELT Development & Integration: Design and maintain pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, Azure Data Factory, or SSIS. Extract data from Business Central, custom middleware, BigCommerce, HubSpot, and internal databases.
• Database Engineering: Build high-standard tables, views, functions, stored procedures, and indexes across SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Fabric Warehouse.
• Data Quality & Operations: Implement automated quality checks for completeness, accuracy, and freshness. Reconcile key metrics between source systems and the data warehouse.
• Reporting & AI Enablement: Work with the Reporting Engineer to transition Power BI and SSRS reports to the new platform. Deliver datasets for AI/ML use cases.
• Governance, Security & CI/CD: Implement RBAC, data security, data dictionaries, and CI/CD pipelines via Git and Azure DevOps.
