Job summary

GS1 Global Office in New Jersey is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to design scalable data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory and Power BI to deliver trusted data products at scale.

You will own production data pipelines, govern data quality and lead AI-enabled data solutions that connect enterprise data to LLMs like Claude, while guiding senior leaders on value, risks and governance across a global network.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering or related field.
5+ years in data engineering, BI or analytics with production responsibility.
Hands-on with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse/Databricks or comparable cloud analytics platform.
Experience building or supporting RAG pipelines and working with LLM APIs like Claude/OpenAI.
Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable data platforms: pipelines, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse and semantic models on Fabric and Azure.
Integrate data with Fabric Data Pipelines, Azure Data Factory and APIs, supporting migration and modernisation.
Bring AI into production: build RAG pipelines connecting enterprise data to Claude and other LLM platforms.
Prototype AI use cases with senior leaders, weighing value, architecture, risk and guardrails.
Deliver actionable BI: build Power BI dashboards, datasets and semantic models.
Ensure governance: data validation, observability, lineage, access controls and responsible AI practices.
Own production: CI/CD, automated testing, incident resolution, runbooks and recovery.
Lead technically: review code, coach team members, explain trade-offs to diverse audiences.
