Job summary

Turo is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to build and evolve a scalable data platform in San Francisco. You will own data pipelines and canonical data models used by Product, Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, and Finance teams, while troubleshooting complex data issues and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities include implementing orchestration tooling (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster), securing data architectures, and collaborating across teams to unify data across the Turo ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant data engineering experience.
• Experience building ETL frameworks and data pipelines.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Proficient with Terraform and Kubernetes; strong security practices.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team to refine the data engineering roadmap and drive execution.
• Design and implement a scalable data platform powering multiple teams (Product, Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, Finance).
• Define canonical data models and unify data across the Turo ecosystem.
• Implement and support workflow orchestration tooling in cloud environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve data platform tooling and security.
