Job summary

Buildertrend is seeking a Senior Data Engineer-Data Platform to lead the migration of our data platform onto a modern Databricks lakehouse built on dbt. You’ll design pipelines from Salesforce, SQL Server and Gong into curated, trustworthy datasets trusted by teams and AI tools, reducing manual firefighting and setting standards for years.

You will modernize with a medallion architecture, build ELT pipelines, refactor legacy systems, and strengthen reliability with automation and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of data engineering, data science or analytics experience.
• Production experience with Databricks, including pipelines and governance.
• Production experience with dbt, including models, tests and macros.
• Leadership in data platform migration from legacy warehousing to a lakehouse.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a Databricks lakehouse with medallion architecture.
• Build ELT pipelines with Databricks, dbt and Fivetran from multiple sources.
• Refactor legacy pipelines and repoint tools to the new platform.
• Improve reliability with auto-recovery, full-refresh jobs and monitoring.
• Create data quality checks and governance using dbt tests and Unity Catalog.
• Design access controls and privacy compliance for large datasets.
• Document data dictionaries, ERDs and data specs for humans and AI.
• Develop curated data products to drive decisions for stakeholders.
