Job summary

Buildertrend, a leading residential construction management platform, seeks a Senior Data Engineer-Data Platform to migrate our data stack to a Databricks lakehouse built with dbt. You’ll design pipelines from SQL Server, Salesforce and Gong into trusted analytics datasets powering business insights and AI applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of data engineering, data science or data analytics.
• Hands-on Databricks experience with pipelines, jobs and clusters.
• dbt experience building models, tests and macros in production.
• Experience leading a data platform migration from legacy systems.
• Strong SQL, Python skills; APIs and large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Buildertrend's Databricks lakehouse (bronze/silver/gold) and establish standards.
• Create ELT pipelines with Databricks, dbt, and Fivetran from SQL Server, Salesforce, MongoDB, Gong.
• Lead migration off legacy systems and redeploy dashboards with clear ownership.
• Improve reliability with log-ship replication, automation and monitoring.
• Implement data quality checks, freshness monitoring, and governance practices.
• Define access controls, per-team clusters, and data contracts with product teams.
• Document data dictionaries, ERDs and specs for users and AI tools.
• Build curated data products for analytics and AI use cases.
• Collaborate with data science/AI teams and other stakeholders; mentor engineers.
