Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an experienced data platform engineer to lead the architecture and delivery of a modern data platform. You’ll own ingestion, orchestration, and transformation layers, enabling product engineers, data scientists, and analysts to work with data confidently and at scale.

You will join as one of the first data platform hires, collaborating with Analytics, Data Engineering, product teams, and Infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production data infrastructure.
• Deep experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouses.
• Hands-on experience with CDC and streaming pipelines (Kafka, Debezium, Flink, Spark Streaming).
• Experience with managed ingestion tooling (Fivetran, Airbyte).
• Strong workflow orchestration experience (Temporal, Airflow, Dagster).
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills.
• Experience building internal tooling and data governance in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the data platform's architecture and technical direction.
• Build and operate ingestion across streaming, batch, CDC, and third-party connectors.
• Ingest data into Snowflake with reliable freshness and cost management.
• Own the orchestration platform across the data graph.
• Develop transformation and compute frameworks and self-serve tooling for teams.
• Design stream processing for near-real-time use cases.
• Build trust layer with quality, lineage, and governance features.
• Lead patterns for PII handling and multi-region residency.
• Set design standards, write documentation, and mentor the team.
