Job summary

Hazel, based in New York City, is seeking a data platform engineer to own end-to-end data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration while ensuring reliability across the stack. You will also advance AI-native agents that build and test new integrations, automating tasks to scale the data platform.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of production data infrastructure experience, deep SQL expertise, Python proficiency, and hands-on orchestration with Dagster or similar tools.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building production data infrastructure with ownership of a data warehouse.
• Strong SQL and data modeling opinions on grain and incrementality.
• Proficient Python coding for ingestion layers.
• Experience with orchestration tools (Dagster/Airflow/Temporal/Prefect).
• AI-native workflow experience using coding agents is a plus.
• Good documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the data platform end-to-end: ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and reliability.
• Develop and refine AI agents for writing, building, and testing integrations end-to-end.
• Automate data integration and transformation tasks to scale the team.
• Improve ingestion pipelines for low latency and peak performance.
• Ship new source integrations end-to-end.
