Job summary

Hazel is seeking a data platform engineer to own ingestion, transformation, and orchestration across a high-scale data warehouse. You will advance AI-driven integrations and automate complex pipelines to keep Hazel connected to live data from Shopify, Klaviyo, Amazon, and more.

You will build reliable data flows, optimize low-latency ingestion, and design a robust transformation layer so Hazel can deliver trusted insights at scale.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building production data infrastructure with ownership of a warehouse.
• Deep understanding of dbt and SQL with opinions about grain, incrementality, and data modeling.
• Strong Python programming for ingestion layers, not just UI actions.
• Experience owning an orchestrator in production (Dagster, Airflow, Temporal, Prefect, etc.).
• AI-native approach: using coding agents to do work at scale, with clear attribution.
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to keep data platform knowledge accessible.
• Nice to have: open table formats, ecommerce data sources, and multi-tenant warehouses.

Responsibilities

• - Own data platform end to end: ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and reliability.
• - Further develop AI agents that write, build, and test new data integrations end to end, automating the job.
• - Own data platform reliability as we scale and ensure robust performance.
• - Optimize ingestion pipelines for low-latency data availability during peak seasonal surges.
• - Build data transformation layer for clean, predictable data Hazel can rely on.
• - Ship new source integrations end to end.
