Job summary

Toyota Motor North America’s Digital Innovations group is seeking a Principal Engineer II, Data Engineering based in Plano, TX. You will lead the technical strategy for enterprise data platforms across AWS, Databricks, and Azure, guiding multiple teams to deliver scalable data and AI/ML solutions.

You will mentor engineers, shape delivery practices, and drive AI-enabled engineering capabilities while maintaining security and governance across the data landscape.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and delivering complex enterprise data and software solutions.
• 5+ years of cloud-native data architecture on AWS, Databricks, and Azure.
• 5+ years delivering data solutions with Python, PySpark, SQL, Spark, AWS Redshift, and streaming frameworks.
• Proven ability to set technical direction and influence multiple teams.
• Experience with AI/ML workloads in production environments.
• Ability to balance technical excellence with delivery outcomes and cost.
• Leadership in cross-functional teams and agile delivery practices.
• Experience using AI-enabled development tools with governance and security in mind.

Responsibilities

• Define and advance the technical vision for large-scale data platforms on AWS, Databricks, and Azure.
• Lead architecture decisions across data products, ensuring scalability and security.
• Provide senior technical leadership across the full lifecycle from discovery to operations.
• Mentor engineers and engineering leads to elevate technical excellence.
• Directly lead multiple teams when needed and coordinate delivery rhythms.
• Drive disciplined, scalable Agile delivery with clear user stories and risk management.
