Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, Optum, seeks a hands-on Senior Data Modeler to support the Illinois Enterprise Data Warehouse. The role focuses on the design, governance, and evolution of data models across conceptual to physical layers, aligning with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.

You will collaborate with data architects, ETL engineers, BI developers, DBAs, and business SMEs to deliver scalable, compliant data solutions while modernizing Teradata to Azure, Snowflake, and other cloud

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience.
• 7+ years in data modeling, data strategy and roadmap for large health entities.
• 5+ years of knowledge of HIPAA, PHI, PII, and healthcare data security standards
• 5+ years of experience with Erwin Data Model or comparable tools
• 5+ years of experience with OLTP/OLAP data modeling and data governance

Responsibilities

• Lead data architecture, data modeling, and data movement initiatives for analytics across Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial data domains.
• Create an end-to-end vision for how logical design translates into physical databases and data flows.
• Develop dimensional models (Kimball), OLTP/3NF, OLAP, and Data Vault patterns with SCDs, surrogate keys, and data classification.
• Define keys, indexes, partitions, constraints, and referential integrity to ensure data quality and performance.
• Produce and maintain ERDs, data flow diagrams, and model documentation using Erwin or equivalents.
