Job summary

American Century Investments is seeking an Architect Advisor for its Enterprise Data Lake team in Kansas City. You will design and evolve data platforms, enabling secure, governed data access while mentoring engineers.

This hybrid role reports to the Director of Data Technologies and requires strong AWS, DevOps, and data engineering expertise. You will partner with IT and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions, drive architecture decisions, and implement

Qualifications

• Translate business requirements into data solutions and architectures.
• Hands-on AWS DevOps with CI/CD, testing, and IaC.
• Understand governed data access, IAM, encryption, and audit logging.
• 5+ years in programming (Python; Java is relevant).
• 5+ years with AWS data services (S3, Lambda, EMR, KMS).
• 7+ years ETL/ELT and data lake patterns.
• 5+ years SDLC and Agile practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and evolve EDL and supporting data platforms.
• Partner with IT and business to translate needs into scalable designs.
• Develop reusable ingestion patterns and automate onboarding.
• Implement governed data consumption and entitlement frameworks.
• Support audit processes with architecture documentation and evidence.
• Apply AWS DevOps practices: IaC, CI/CD, monitoring, and operations.
• Provide technical leadership in an agile environment and mentor juniors.
