Job summary

MetLife’s Global Technology team seeks a Principal Engineer to lead the Data Integration Platform, setting direction for data transformation and transmission solutions across a portfolio of services. You will own end-to-end technical outcomes, drive resiliency, automation, and modernization while aligning with strategic objectives.

You will partner with stakeholders, architects, and engineers to define infrastructure strategy, establish enterprise patterns, and guide cross‑functional initiatives

Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall experience in engineering/tech leadership
• Strategic thinking and ability to communicate solutions to diverse audiences
• Experience guiding senior technical decisions and modernization practices
• Experience partnering with senior executives and translating technical topics into business insights
• Expertise in platform engineering for enterprise data management and integration
• Technical leadership in production support for ETL/data integration
• Experience with cloud-based data integration tech (Informatica ICI, Azure Data Factory, Databricks)
• Experience with automation/scripting or IaC tooling (Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, etc.)
• Familiarity with modern observability platforms and practices

Responsibilities

• Define infrastructure-level technical strategy, modernization patterns, and engineering practices for complex data integration capabilities.
• Provide expert guidance on data reliability risks, resilience patterns, and remediation plans.
• Oversee infrastructure maintenance, security, and observability across dispersed resources.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineers, communicating technical concepts clearly.
• Align platform capabilities with business needs, standards, and roadmaps across teams.
• Set enterprise engineering patterns for data integration services and interfaces.
• Establish data integration automation standards and tooling direction.
• Create enterprise reference materials on patterns, standards, and operational learning.
