MetLife, based in New York, seeks a Data & AI Product Engineer to set the tech direction for data and AI capabilities across the enterprise. This hands-on leader defines target-state architectures, drives production-ready delivery, and spans data science, data engineering, and data strategy.

You will tackle ambiguous, high-stakes problems, present to executives, and influence decisions on what to build and how data/AI integrate within IT. Hybrid role with strong leadership impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering, data science/AI, and data strategy; 3+ years leading platform direction.
• Proven production-grade data or AI delivery and operations.
• Experience designing data and AI architectures and build-vs-buy decisions.
• Strong hands-on Python and SQL with model validation.
• Experience with ML/Generative AI including RAG and agent-based architectures.
• Deep understanding of modern data platforms, data pipelines, APIs, integrations, and cloud architectures.

Responsabilités

• Work with domain stakeholders to identify capability needs and translate problems into requirements.
• Shape the technical direction for MetLife's data and AI landscape and plan investments.
• Lead large cross-functional initiatives and frame problems for enterprise adoption.
• Architect target-state solutions with data flow and integration diagrams.
• Design and deliver hands-on data science and data engineering solutions.
• Review designs and code, owning production-readiness decisions.
• Guide initiatives toward approved platforms and avoid duplicating efforts.
• Serve as the trusted technical voice for data and AI with senior executives.
