Job summary

OneAmerica Financial is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to provide leadership on data projects and align data models with enterprise standards. The role partners with a Line of Business to evolve data strategies and improve data solutions across ODS, data warehouse, and integration hubs.

You will review models, set standards, and audit compliance while collaborating with the Enterprise Data Architect to drive the data strategy. Remote work is hybrid with Indianapolis presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in a data architecture-related role.
• 5+ years of experience data modeling data solutions including but not limited to: ODS, Data Warehouse, Data Integration Hub, OLTP/OLAP or equivalent knowledge.
• 5+ years of experience data modeling, querying, and performance tuning relational DBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).
• Expert SQL skills and demonstrated ability to write and debug complex SQL for analysis and translation of data needs into back end structures.
• Demonstrated experience in work estimation and management.
• Familiarity working on agile teams.
• Familiar with DevOps concepts and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a holistic view of the scope of all data projects across a line of business looking for potential project collisions.
• Provide project consultation including reviewing Data Architecture overall approach at project level and looking for opportunities for component reuse.
• Set Data Modeling standards and processes.
• Perform data model audits for standards compliance.
• Maintain conceptual data models of each line of business.
• Understand the complete path of data within the entire line of business.
• Develop an in-depth understanding of the business data needs and align those needs with the Enterprise data strategy.
• Partner with the Enterprise Data Architect to influence, understand, and implement the Enterprise Data Strategy.
