Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks a senior data/platform engineer to own the core supply chain data models in Databricks and to shape self-serve analytics for business stakeholders. You will work with the data platform team and supply chain leadership to align data contracts and governance with scalable, reliable metrics.

You will mentor junior engineers, establish CI/CD data engineering standards, and guide AI-enabled tooling to extend self-serve capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines and data models.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Deep experience with Databricks (or comparable lakehouse platform) architecting large-scale, business-facing data models.
• Proven experience partnering with or consuming data from a centralized enterprise data platform team, including managing data contracts.
• Strong experience architecting solutions on AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue, ECS/EKS, RDS, API Gateway).
• Proven experience with Git-based CI/CD workflows (GitLab preferred) and modern software engineering practices.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Responsibilities

• Architect and own the primary supply chain data models in Databricks.
• Own the strategy and architecture for self-serve data analytics across the org.
• Serve as technical liaison with ET's data platform team and adapt models.
• Define data modeling standards and data quality frameworks.
• Guide architecture of AWS-hosted internal web apps and self-serve analytics tools.
• Set engineering standards for GitLab CI/CD and mentor Data Engineer I–III.
• Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted development and analytics tools to scale self-serve capabilities.
• Act as technical point of contact between supply chain leadership and engineering.
• Ensure comprehensive model and self-serve metric coverage across procurement, inventory, logistics, supplier performance, manufacturing supply.
