Job summary

Rocket, a Detroit-based company, seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design, develop and maintain data platforms and solutions. You will build ingestion/transformation pipelines across a hybrid data environment, mentor teammates, and promote best practices throughout the data engineering lifecycle.

You will lead ETL/ELT development, data modeling, and scalable data processing jobs, while addressing data quality, security and performance concerns across large-scale platforms.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building data solutions with relational/non-relational databases and batch/real-time pipelines in cloud environments.
• 5+ years with dimensional or tabular data modeling.
• Experience designing and developing complex data transformation pipelines.
• 5+ years of CI/CD and automated deployments.
• Expertise writing complex SQL/NoSQL queries.
• Expertise in performance tuning, debugging, and troubleshooting data processing jobs (ETL).
• 5+ years of Python development, including AWS Lambda.

Responsibilities

• Develop ETL/ELT processes to source and curate data from enterprise systems with fast, reliable delivery.
• Create tabular and dimensional models to support analytical and operational use cases.
• Build and maintain data processing jobs to refresh data on a regular cadence.
• Identify and resolve data quality issues, ensuring data security and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues with advanced debugging techniques.
• Lead code reviews focusing on performance, scalability and maintainability.
• Work across on-premises and cloud data platforms in a hybrid environment.
