Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I - Data Engineering to design and scale core data platforms powering operations. Based onsite in Long Beach, CA, you’ll build pipelines, storage, APIs, and processing tools used by engineers across the company.

You’ll collaborate across teams, deploy at scale, and own services end-to-end while leveraging Python, Kubernetes, and REST APIs. U.S. citizenship is required for ITAR considerations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Expertise in Python development and backend architecture
• Experience deploying services at scale with CI/CD and containerization
• Strong Git skills for version control and collaboration
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools
• Hands-on experience designing REST APIs
• Familiarity with Jira or Redmine
• U.S. citizenship is required

• Design, build, and deploy tools and services that power operational data access across Rocket Lab
• Collaborate with engineering teams across multiple verticals and time zones
• Develop and maintain apps, services, and platforms that scale with business needs
• Build automation to enable engineers to discover and access operational data
