Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I - Data Engineering to design and scale core data platforms that power Rocket Lab's operations. You will work onsite in Long Beach, CA, building data pipelines, storage, APIs, and processing platforms for engineers across the company.

You'll collaborate with multiple teams, deploy services at scale, and own end-to-end solutions, from architecture to production support, while leveraging CI/CD, Kubernetes, and REST APIs in a fast-paced space

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and backend architecture expertise.
• Experience deploying services at scale with CI/CD and containerization.
• Strong Git skills and REST API design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data infrastructure powering Rocket Lab operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones to define data requirements.
• Develop scalable apps, services, and platforms for data access and processing.
• Create automation to help engineers discover and use operational data efficiently.
• Own services end-to-end from architecture through production support.
