Job summary

Distillery Tech Inc is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and operate scalable data infrastructure for logistics and e-commerce platforms. The role focuses on building data pipelines on GCP, enabling analytics and business intelligence with BigQuery, SQL, and Python.

You will collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business teams, own data quality and cost optimization, and explore AI-assisted development using Claude, Vertex AI, or Gemini in a startup or scale-up environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering focused on data infrastructure.
• Hands-on with GCP and BigQuery; proficient in SQL and Python.
• Experience with dbt, data modeling and transformations.
• Data pipeline orchestration using Airflow, Dagster, or similar tools.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs (REST/GraphQL/webhooks).
• Familiarity with AI tools for software development (Claude, Vertex AI, Gemini).
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, data quality, and data warehouse concepts.
• Experience in startup or scale-up environments with ownership and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Development: design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on GCP using BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, or equivalents.
• Data Transformation & Modeling: develop ETL/ELT processes and data models with dbt for analytics-ready data.
• API Integrations: build and maintain integrations with internal/third-party systems via REST APIs, GraphQL, and webhooks.
• Workflow Orchestration: manage data workflows using Airflow or Dagster.
• Data Quality & Governance: implement data quality, governance, and security across pipelines.
• Performance & Cost Optimization: monitor and optimize BigQuery performance and infra costs.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: partner with engineering, analytics, and business teams to meet data needs.
• AI-Assisted Development: leverage Claude, Vertex AI, Gemini, or similar to improve workflows.
