Job summary

Akumin is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and operate our enterprise data platform, enabling analytics and AI across the organization. You will own data collection processes, ensure data integrity, and provide rapid access to data for leaders and data scientists.

You will design and deploy ETL/ELT pipelines, implement data models, and collaborate with architecture and data teams to meet regulatory and governance standards. Travel may be minimal.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Management / ETL / ELT / Data Warehousing.
• Experience in writing Data Quality routines for cleansing data and managing master data (MDM).
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing data pipelines and ELT/ETL processes (e.g., Fivetran, DBT).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and services (BigQuery, S3, Snowflake).
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data integration, and data governance; experience with healthcare data.Domain/regulatory governance knowledge.
• Experience in a highly regulated domain (Healthcare, Banking, etc.).
• Strong SQL and T-SQL knowledge; scripting in Python/JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, reporting, and transformation.
• Design and implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines with monitoring and supportability in mind.
• Contribute to coding standards to ensure reusable data services and components.
• Architect, implement and deploy new data models and data processes in production.
• Build data pipelines that acquire, cleanse, transform and publish data from diverse sources.
• Assemble large, complex data sets meeting functional and non-functional requirements.
• Collaborate with data asset managers, architects, and leads to ensure data is fit for use.
• Identify, document, and implement internal process improvements.
• Support other duties as assigned by management.
