Job summary

Akumin remote opportunity seeks a Senior Data Engineer to build and maintain the enterprise data platform. You will develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines, implement data models, and ensure data quality for analytics and AI initiatives.

Qualifications include 5+ years in data management, strong SQL/TSQL, experience with Fivetran/DBT, and cloud services like BigQuery, S3, or Snowflake. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science or MIS, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Data Management / ETL / ELT / Data Warehousing.
• Experience in data quality routines, confidence scoring, and MDM approaches.
• Hands-on with data pipelines and ELT/ETL (e.g., Fivetran, DBT).
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and services (BigQuery, S3, Snowflake).
• Knowledge of data modeling, integration, and governance (DBT).
• Experience in regulated domains (Healthcare, Banking, etc.).
• Strong SQL and TSQl knowledge; scripting with JavaScript or Python.
• Experience with agile delivery and strong analytical skills.
• Travel 5-10%.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
• Design and implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines with Python/Google tooling and off-the-shelf tools.
• Contribute to coding standards to ensure reusable services.
• Architect and deploy new data models and processes in production.
• Build data pipelines that acquire, cleanse, transform, and publish data from diverse sources.
• Assemble large data sets meeting functional and non-functional requirements.
• Collaborate with data asset managers, architects, and leads to ensure fit-for-use data.
