Job summary

Piper Companies seeks a Senior Data Engineer for a fully remote, permanent role supporting teams across the Eastern and Central time zones. You will design, modernize, and optimize enterprise data platforms, while mentoring engineers and owning architecture decisions.

You will lead cloud-based data pipelines, work with Azure, Python, and SQL, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions. Strong leadership and hands-on ETL expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional data engineering experience with strong SQL and Python
• Experience building solutions on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory
• Proven leadership in architecture design and technical ownership in a small to mid-sized environment
• Strong ETL development, data modeling, and API integration experience (REST/SOAP)
• Experience with data platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, AWS; familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or C# is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize cloud-based data pipelines and ETL processes
• Lead data architecture decisions and platform modernization initiatives
• Build and maintain data solutions using Azure, Python, SQL, and orchestration tools
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and enforce data quality and governance standards
