Job summary

VERSANT Media is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, evolution, and reliability of our data platform supporting GolfNow and the broader sports tech ecosystem.

You will architect scalable data pipelines across AWS and Microsoft ecosystems, partner with product and analytics teams, and mentor engineers to raise standards. This is a fully remote role with about 10% in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

• Extensive data engineering experience designing, building, scaling cloud data platforms (AWS preferred).
• Advanced SQL and Python, with ETL/ELT pipeline development.
• Knowledge of data architecture, warehousing, orchestration, and distributed processing; Airflow is valuable.
• Hands-on AWS: Glue, Lambda, Step Functions; Terraform for IaC.
• Ability to influence technical direction and collaborate across teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to standards.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve scalable data pipelines across AWS and Microsoft ecosystems.
• Design data models, warehouses, and orchestration for analytics and BI.
• Establish and improve standards for data quality, governance, reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Mentor data engineers and strengthen engineering practices.
