Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines across on-prem and cloud sources, with emphasis on Snowflake, dbt, and Azure tools. You will mentor a data engineer and collaborate with analysts to advance data engineering practices.

The role focuses on robust data movement, semantic layers, and self-service interfaces, with a strong emphasis on performance tuning and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, and relevant work experience will be considered.
• Five+ years of dedicated data engineering experience with production-grade data pipelines.
• Advanced hands-on Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and data sharing.
• Experience moving data across hybrid environments (on-premises to cloud) using batch, streaming and event-driven patterns.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines for batch, real-time streaming, and event-driven movement.
• Core developer for Snowflake, supporting platform performance, data modeling and storage.
• Architects and builds transformation pipelines delivering high-quality inputs to Snowflake and dbt AI features.
• Maintains semantic layers and metadata models for Self-Service 2.0 NL interfaces.
• Establishes reference architectures, reusable templates, and CI/CD practices for safe data products.
• Provides management and mentorship to one data engineer and guides data analysts in engineering practices.
• Drives adoption of dbt and evaluates Azure/AWS tools to optimize data flow.
