Job summary

TelevisaUnivision, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own end-to-end data pipelines for ViX's streaming platform.

You will design, build, and operate scalable batch and real-time data pipelines using Airflow, Python, SQL, and dbt, in a cloud-based environment with GCP. You will collaborate with data science, analytics, and product teams to turn data into actionable insights, ensure data quality and security, and contribute to platform strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Big Data environments.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Hands-on experience building and owning production-grade, end-to-end data pipelines.
• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), incl. BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer; AWS experience considered.
• Experience with workflow orchestration and transformation tools such as Airflow and dbt.
• Experience building real-time or near-real-time data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing best practices, including relational and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Pulumi or Terraform.
• Solid understanding of distributed data processing frameworks, including Spark.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines using Airflow, Python, SQL, and dbt.
• Build real-time ingestion pipelines from Pub/Sub into Cloud Storage and BigQuery using Dataflow.
• Model data in the analytics warehouse to support reporting, analytics, ML, and product initiatives.
• Own pipelines end-to-end from design to production support.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and availability across the data ecosystem.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Analysts, and Engineering to translate requirements into solutions.
• Contribute to data architecture discussions and long-term platform strategy.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in technical interviews.
