Job summary

Block’s Cash App data engineering team is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize data models, pipelines, and dashboards that empower product and analytics across multiple domains. You will own critical datasets and support the product data engineering team in a fast-moving environment.

You will drive data infrastructure, monitor data quality, and collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams while applying AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery and improve

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
• High proficiency in SQL, Python, and Dbt.
• Experience designing medium-to-large data engineering solutions across the project lifecycle.
• Experience with ETL scheduling technologies such as Airflow or Prefect.
• Experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling.
• Experience with data quality and data lineage monitoring.
• Experience with data-driven decisions through AI and agentic automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and optimization of data models across eventing, customer-level, and process-level data.
• Own critical data pipelines including foundational datasets and movement pipelines.
• Build monitoring for data quality and lineage; develop AI agents for automation.
• Participate in on-call rotation; diagnose, log issues, and fix pipelines to meet SLAs.
• Collaborate with non-technical partners and product teams to translate needs into data requirements.
